Morgan Molitor’s DIY blog showcases more than just her home renovation skills. Her projects include everything from Pinterest parties (real, not virtual!) to huge homemade letter signs, to photo booth props inspired for her own wedding.
In order for her to start making money from her blog, Morgan first had to push past her fears. Below she shares her story along with her insider tips.

Home Life
Saira: What did you do before starting your business?
Morgan: I currently work at a Marketing Agency in Minneapolis as an Account Manager.
Saira: Give us a picture of a typical weekday in your family.
Morgan: Everyday I seek to find balance. I am a full time mom, wife, marketing manger, blogger and wifey-helper home renovator. Blogging has been a life changing experience for me. When you think of how much time you will spend blogging, quadruple it and then quadruple it again. It takes a ton of time and a ton of hard work and dedication.
On your average Molitor family day my husband and I wake up around 6am. The mornings we spend 1-2 hours on outreach and networking for our business. Once Greyson, our son, wakes up we spend time with him. Head to work around 9/10 and home around 4/5. Once we’re home its family time until Greyson goes to bed. We then spend 1-2 hours on producing content for our blog. Once 8pm hits, it is 100% one-on-one time with my husband.
DIY Blog
Saira: What is your business all about?
Morgan: construction2style is all about our family lifestyle featuring our at-home renovations, remodels and DIY projects.
Saira: In what ways do you make money online?
Morgan: Paid sponsored posts and advertisements
Saira: Where do most of your customers come from? How do you tap into your target market?
Morgan: Traffic to our site is mostly generated by our social media platforms, highest being Pinterest.
We tap into our target market by connecting to people within our tribe, home improvement and DIY’ers. I am constantly thinking of what our tribe would search for, what they would want to learn and how to DIY.
Fears Give Way To Success
Saira: In hindsight, what is one thing you would have done differently or one lesson that you learned?
Morgan: I wish I would have started stronger. It’s scary putting yourself out there. When my husband and I first started our blog I listened to that tiny annoying voice in the back of my head…Were our posts good enough? Would people laugh at us? Would our family understand what we were trying to do? And at the end of the day…who cares! I knew exactly what I was trying to do. And luckily my husband was 100% on board and supportive.
Saira: What do you consider to be your biggest success so far?
Morgan: Getting paid to blog. It’s always been a dream of mine and I wasn’t entirely sure how to get there.
Saira: What advice would you give you other moms who are just starting out in the online world?
Morgan: Don’t be afraid to be yourself! When starting you may just hear crickets and wonder what you are doing all this for and if anybody is out there. But if you be yourself and keep doing what you love, they will come.
Morgan: You are the only one who stands in the way of your achievements.
And be sure to find balance. Don’t sacrifice family time that you will never get back again.
