If you’re wondering how much do bloggers make, the answer is a LOT.
I can’t promise you that everyone out there is truthful, but I know many, many, many bloggers who are making tens of thousands of dollars a MONTH with their blogs.
No joke.
Below I show you exactly how much I’m making with my baby shower blog.
I’m also sharing the exact plan I will use to grow that blog & grow the income from that blog.
The idea is to put in the work now, and then generate passive income from it in the future.
You’ll find out exactly how much do bloggers make as we go.
No time to get through it all now, click here to pin this post for later.
How Much Do Bloggers Make?
I’ve just heard way to many blogging success stories & I want ALL of my blogs to be that successful.
Because I have more than one blog (Hi, my name is Saira & I’m addicted to blogging!).
Currently I have FOUR sites: the one you’re reading now, plus this site, this site, and this site.
NOT that I recommend it – I’ve been starting too many projects without FINISHING any of them.
But I do have access to an amazing strategy to create a successful, profitable blog.
So here I am, committing to fully apply that strategy to each of my blogs – one by one.
Also, there’s just way too much blogging noise out there.
Everyone has a solution & a strategy & tips, but you have to be SO CAREFUL who you listen to.
I’ve heard them all – signed up for all the emails, listened to all the podcasts, joined all the Facebook Groups.
But there’s only one person who I fully trust & that’s Ruth from Elite Blog Academy.
So I’m going on faith here & committing to trust the process all the way to the end of the course.

How Much Do Bloggers Make? Case Study
Here is a case study from one of my blogs.
You can also find more blogging success stories here.
Blog: Bath Time Fun Time
This blog is a self-hosted on WordPress.
The blog didn’t start out as a hobby blog or passion projects.
It started out as an experiment to see if it was possible to make money talking about baby bath toys.
So, how much do bloggers make talking about bath toys?
As you probably guessed, the profit on bath toys is pretty low.
But, one of the most amazing things about blogging is that you learn as you go.
I started writing about baby showers (because those people might want to buy baby toys, right?) and those posts did OK.
After researching baby shower games, I thought I could make a better version of a baby shower bingo game.
At some point, after starting idea after idea & blog after blog, Bath Time Fun Time became old news & for a while I thought about shutting it down completely.
But I do like to create & you’ll see below I’ve created a number of different baby shower games now.
That blog is like a playground for my brain, and I’ve decided that’s OK.
Instead of ignoring my baby shower game traffic, I’ll apply what I’ve learned in Elite Blog Academy to see how far it can go, if I really give it a chance to shine.
The blog name isn’t perfect – does it even make sense anymore? Probably not with respect to baby shower games.
Since what I really love to do is create the products (not write the blog posts), I’ve hired an awesome new ghost writer to create some new, long-form baby shower content.
Having someone else write the posts should help me keep going – as long as I have income coming in, I can use that money to hire-out the content.
In a perfect world, one year from now Bath Time Fun Time will be earning $2,000 a month passive income through a combination of product sales, affiliate income & ad revenue.
Current Blog Stats

Current Blog Income
So, back to the main question: how much do bloggers make?
This are the real numbers from one of my blogs – Bath Time Fun Time.
You can find more about other bloggers here.
It’s worth noting that the income on Bath Time Fun Time was nearly 100% passive.
Here’s the only work I’ve done on this blog in the last few years:
- 3 sponsored posts in 2017
- 5 new product lines in 2018 (3 I created & 2 I paid someone else to create)
So while the income isn’t amazing, it also required almost zero work from me.
2017 Income
- Total income: $2,877
- Highest month: $689
- Lowest month: $18
- Affiliate sales 25%
- Sponsored posts 31%
- My product sales 44%
You’ll notice the highest month was $689 but the lowest month was just $18.
This is why I do not like relying on sponsored posts – it’s too hard to predict that income.
Instead I focused on my own product sales for 2018.
2018 Income
- Total income: $4,464
- Highest month: $519
- Lowest month: $218
- Affiliate sales 7%
- My product sales 93%
I created 5 new product lines this year: 3 products I created myself & the other 2 I paid to have created.
This has a massive impact on my income, so I’m planning to streamline the process & keep putting out new product lines.
2019 Monthly Income
- January: $281
- February: $306
I’m still sitting with the majority of my income from product sales, but I would like to add income from advertising revenue.
New Monthly Income Goal: $2,000
Honestly, $2,000 a month doesn’t seem too crazy.
In theory, all I need to do is grow my traffic by 10 times to earn 10 times the income…
The reality is that this monthly income goal is WAY higher than anything I’ve seen from this blog before.
Since I haven’t paid any real attention to growing traffic on the site, it shouldn’t be too hard, right?
But like I said, we’re going to 100% fully follow the Elite Blog Academy strategy, so we’ll find out together!
Affiliate Sales
In 2017 25% of Bath Time Fun Time’s blog income was from affiliate sales.
All of it was from using this one affiliate network (not Amazon).
In 2018 Bath Time Fun Time’s affiliate income dropped to 7% – probably because I spent more time selling my own products than promoting affiliate products.
In 2019 I would like to include more affiliate products where it make sense in my posts, but I don’t plan to heavily focus on affiliate marketing for this blog.
I like that affiliate income is so passive – just create the content once & that’s it.
It’s a great way to fill the gaps with products my audience wants but that I don’t plan to create & sell myself.
Product Sales
In 2017 I earned $1,256 from Bath Time Fun Time sales of 1 product.
Then in 2018 that income went up to $4,156 & I now have a total of 6 products.
Here are the products details:
-
Original product: $2,597
-
Girl theme (launched April 2018): $1,024
-
Catchphrase product (launched April 2018): $290
-
Boy theme (launched August 2018): $207
-
Whale theme (launched August 2018): $13
-
Spanish language (launched September 2018): $25
At the time I didn’t know if creating new products would eat into the sales of the original product, but fortunately that didn’t happen.
It’s super fun to create these products & I ONLY allow myself to work on them during evenings & weekends – times I find it impossible to concentrate on more complicated work.
I can’t seem to create any other content during these times, but creating these products is easy & keeps me busy.
There are dozens of other products I have in mind, so I’ll fit those in soon.
Ad Networks
I currently have no ad network revenue from Bath Time Fun Time.
Back when I used to actively manage this blog, Google Adsense was probably the only options.
Now I know there are other awesome options like Monumetric and AdThrive.
I’m planning to add ad networks into my income strategy for Bath Time Fun Time, once I have the page view to qualify.
