Every year, comic fans can’t wait until the first Saturday in May to flock to their favorite independent bookstores to celebrate Free Comic Book Day.
They can’t get enough of reminiscing about their favorite superheroes.
Perhaps, grabbing some freebies or catching up on the latest collection of the X-Men, Green Lantern, or Spider-Man is enough to make their day.
Unfortunately Free Comic Book Day 2020 was supposed to be on May 2nd, but it’s been postponed.

5 Fun Ways to Celebrate Free Comic Book Day
This year, given the global pandemic, the event, meant to gather comic lovers, was postponed indefinitely.
But as one of those fans, if you were taken by surprise from getting a damper on your excitement, fear not.
Your day can still be filled with fun activities.
Not only will these ideas make your celebration enjoyable but they will help make your day a little brighter, too!
1. Host a Virtual Party For Free Comic Book Day
Now that we are stuck at home, hosting a virtual celebration is a simple, yet fun way to hail our heroes.
Gather your friends or comics clan over your online platform of choice—Zoom and Go-to-Meeting are two popular options—and let your imagination take care of the rest.
Before the party starts, make a collage with your favorite comic magazines.
Hang it on the wall of your kitchen or outside patio.
Get your favorite comic books and editions from previous years and set them up on the table or desk.
Now, include some knick-knacks and refreshments and let the fun begin!
2. Binge-Watch Your Favorite Superhero Movies
Embarking on a marathon of your favorite comics is another fun way to celebrate Free Comic Book Day without feeling guilty.
When was the last time you binge-watched any of the Marvel movies? Have you been missing the first Captain America installment lately?
Nowadays, with all types of streaming services, you can find superhero comics and comic book shows and movies for all tastes.
So, go for it!
3. Run A Comics Read-A-Thon With Your Friends & Family
I don’t know about you, but reading was always one of my favorite activities growing up.
So think about it, how fun it will be to go on a marathon-reading of your favorite comic book, strip, or magazine!
This is what the comic Read-A-Thon is all about.
The overall goal of a Read-A-Thon is to foster the love of reading while raising funds for education-related causes and supporting libraries, schools, or a PTO.
In this case, we are using comics to make it more fun.
So, if you are a comic fanatic and happen to be a mom, dad, teacher, or a caregiver with little ones at home, a comics read-a-thon is a fantastic way to gather the entire family and engage with friends for a good cause.
In the end, everybody wins!
You bond as a family.
Kids improve their reading skills.
We all give back to the community.
And our comic heroes will say thank you.
4. Write Letters Thanking Your “Superheroes”
We all grow up with our own superheroes.
Whether it is someone we admire in cartoons we watched or comic strips we read; or someone to whom we project the image of our favorite superheroes, there is always someone to look up to.
Now it is time to celebrate these people by showing our appreciation.
Writing a short note or drawing a picture of our favorite superhero might be the way to go.
Want to thank mom or dad?
Feel like sending superhero love to a dear friend?
How about your local doctors & nurses?
Maybe the firefighter and policeman in town?
Free Comic Book Day may become appreciation day and the intrinsically funny ways one celebrates this day may warm someone’s heart.
5. Dress Up In Your Favorite Superhero Costume
Free Comic Books Day is all about comic books.
But it is also about the celebration of comics and all that they encompass.
So why not dress up as your favorite superhero & share the fun?
Get your Superwoman, Incredible Hulk, Avengers costumes out—if you love Halloween, this will be your excuse to dress up off season—and show off your superpower.
Enact your moves (maybe a superhero dance?) while showing the love for your favorite comic character.
Post it on social media to share the fun with your friends & followers.
Whatever way you choose to celebrate Free Comic Book Day, the main point is to have a good time.
Just because you can’t visit your favorite comic book store doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate it from home in high gear.
You can still use Free Comic Book Day to get your party started!
