In October 2016 I enrolled Michelle’s awesome affiliate marketing course & then followed all of her advice…
Since then – in just 5 months – I’ve made $21,891.99 from affiliate marketing.
BAM!
Just. Like. That.
Disclosure: many of my posts contain affiliate links. If you use them I will receive commissions, at no extra cost to you.
When It All Changed
Next week I head back to Seattle to meet up with my mastermind group.
When I joined this paid mastermind group in September 2016 I started chatting & comparing notes with these bloggers.
I realized these uber-successful women had many things in common – which books they read, which bloggers they followed & which courses they loved.
Many of them recommended this affiliate marketing course.
Fast-foward just 5 months & I’ve already made $21,891.99 from this course!
Crazy right?
It is no joke that these women are making serious money blogging & my hope is that YOU will focus your time & energy on the right actions to help you grow your income too!
It details exactly how to ROCK affiliate campaigns.
How I Made $21,891.99 From 1 Affiliate Marketing Course
Since enrolling in Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing (October 2016) I’ve earned nearly $22,000 in affiliate commissions!
That’s more than double what I made for ALL of last year!
This course is from Michelle Schroeder-Gardner – she makes $50,000+ a month JUST in affiliate sales & in her course she teaches her secrets!

Don’t just take my word for it… earlier this year Michelle was featured by Forbes!
Hers is easily the best affiliate marketing course I’ve seen.
There is no shortage of exciting affiliate campaigns that you use to make thousands in passive income, but it’s not enough to just have a list of great campaigns to work on.
Don’t spend your energy trying to get results without success – it’s too frustrating & none of us have that extra time to waste.
You need to know HOW to share these programs using PROVEN methods that really work & Michelle’s course will show you how to get results!
In a nutshell, here is what I did:
1. Email. I’m sure you’ve heard this 100 times, but it’s worth repeating. Email is a ridiculously powerful way to promote any sort of product or affiliate promotion. But, this means you can’t be afraid to actually email your list! Yes, people will unsubscribe, but that’s okay – it just means those are not your people anyway.
I send out a few emails during an affiliate campaign, because realistically not every person reads every email I send. If you don’t send out MORE emails than you feel like you should, some of your audience will miss the great opportunity you’re sharing with them. How can you avoid annoying your audience during an affiliate campaign? By adding value into the emails you send. Send them tips & advice that support the campaign you’re promoting.
I LOVE using ConvertKit as my email provider, so I can tag & track exactly who is clicked on which links. This way I can tailor my emails based on whether or not people have expressed an interest in a specific campaign!
I’m sorry to tell you not all email marketing providers are the same. I’ve tried many others that are confusing to use & don’t have the awesome features that ConvertKit does. Switching email providers is a SERIOUS hassle, so you want to get it right as early as possible to avoid the headache later.
2. Creating My Own Special Offer. In Michelle’s course she walks you through how to create a valuable bonus for your readers. When EBA opened for enrollment earlier this year, I ran a giveaway & fully paid for the tuition for one student to attend. As you can imagine, it was a very popular bonus & helped me differentiate myself from other bloggers who were promoting the same thing.
3. Blog Posts. If the affiliate campaign you are promoting isn’t available for sale all year, you can choose to either keep the blog post up or unpublish it until the next time the promotion runs. I like to keep the blog post live & collect email addresses along the way, so when the promotion is available again, I know exactly who to reach out to.
I asked Michelle if she had time to answer a few questions & she generously agreed.
Here’s a litte more about Michelle, her journey & how she found success.
Tell us about yourself and your blog, how long you’ve been blogging, and when you created Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing.
My name is Michelle and I own and manage the personal finance website Making Sense of Cents. I have three finance-related college degrees and I used to be a financial analyst before I left my day job to blog full-time.
Almost six years ago, I created my blog with the hopes of learning how to save money as well as journaling my personal finance journey after reading a magazine that featured a personal finance website in one of their articles.
I became very interested in that website and my interest in blogging grew crazy fast from there.
This is very funny for me to think about because before that August of 2011 (when I started my blog), I had no idea about what blogs were, that they could even make money, or anything along those lines.
So, as you can see, I did not create my blog with the intention of making money blogging. It was all just a hobby and an outlet I then realized how much I loved blogging and realized that it was for me, so now I am a full-time blogger!
My husband left his day job at the same time that I did too!
I became a full-time blogger in October of 2013 and I love every little bit about this decision that I made.
Blogging has completely changed my life for the better and it’s something that I recommend everyone try if they are interested.
On my blog Making Sense of Cents, I teach readers how to make extra money, the best ways to save money, achieving your dream life, traveling and being a digital nomad (me and my husband RV full-time), and more. I love running Making Sense of Cents and I am very happy that this is now my full-time career, my business, and pretty much my life.
I launched the Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing course in July of 2016.
I decided to launch my Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing course for bloggers because I was always being asked about affiliate marketing and how to improve blog income.
What seemed normal and easy to me, isn’t easy for others, so I knew I had to create this course so that I could get my knowledge out. Affiliate marketing is great, and I want others to benefit from it as well!
What were things like for you and your blog before you found success with affiliate marketing? What were you struggling with? What were you trying to achieve?
I was still earning a good income, but no where near the amount that I am earning now. Plus, I was working myself like crazy back then, I had a horrible work-life balance, and I definitely was not as happy as I am now.
Affiliate marketing has completely changed my life and it allows me to better utilize my time.
Before, I felt like I was always running around with my head chopped off!
I enjoy earning affiliate income because it can feel quite passive when compared to other forms of affiliate income. You can create just one blog post or social media post, and possibly make an income from it for months or even years later, as long as you maintain it and keep generating traffic to it.
With affiliate marketing, I can enjoy life more and know that I am still able to earn a great living promoting products that I use and enjoy.
This is great because me and my husband travel full-time, and passive income makes it more enjoyable to do so.
What was your first breakthrough moment with affiliate marketing—that first moment when you thought “hey, I think I can do this?”
I have been interested in affiliate marketing almost since I started blogging, but I never thought it was possible before.
I always thought that you had to have a very large following and a lot of traffic in order to make affiliate income and be successful with it.
But, that all changed. I now make over $50,000 a month through affiliate marketing.
It all changed because one day I decided to give myself a goal of earning affiliate income, and I worked towards achieving that goal.
I started by making a little bit each month, and then it just continued to grow month after month.
I now know that you don’t need a ton of page views or a huge following in order to make a great income through affiliate marketing.
What are you currently working on?
Right now, I am mainly working on managing the best work-life balance that I possibly can.
I love running Making Sense of Cents and my blog monetization course, but I am working on managing those as well as enjoying life as much as I can.
I am also working on growing Making Sense of Cents – I would like to finally get to 1,000,000 monthly page views, growing my email list, and possibly releasing another product in 2017.
What has been the most significant or exciting change in your blog since creating Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing? How is your life different now?
I waited so long to create a product when I definitely should have done it earlier!
Creating Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing helped me to improve my blogging income, help many, many other bloggers, diversify my business, and more.
If anyone is ever thinking about creating a product to add to their blogging business- I definitely recommend doing so!
