Lately I’ve been trying Reddit out as a different way to promote my blog posts other than the traditional Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook.
I have had some success with Reddit so far and am intrigued about the possibilities it holds.
I’ve learned a lot since I’ve started about how Reddit works and wanted to share some tips with you for getting started.
How To Use Reddit To Get Blog Traffic
Here are 5 tips to get started with Reddit & drive traffic from Reddit to your blog.
1. Become a Reddit User
In order to get traffic from Reddit you need to first become a Reddit user. Create an account and join some “subreddits” in your niche.
For example, if you are a mom blogger you may want to join the breastfeeding or MOMMIT subreddits.
Once you have joined make sure to participate in the threads by commenting and interacting with other Reddit users.
You will notice little up and down arrows next to comments. This allows users to upvote or downvote your comments. I’ll talk about this a little more later!
2. Read Rules of Subreddits Carefully
Don’t enter a subreddit and immediately begin sharing your content. Some subreddits don’t allow for this and you can easily be banned.
You can usually find the rules to a subreddit outlined clearly on the right hand side of your screen. This should tell you the rules of sharing your content and interacting on the board.
3. Share Your Own Content Sparingly
On the upper right hand side of each subreddit there is usually a button to submit a new link. Before you do this remember to read the rules of the subreddit for special submission instructions.

You will notice your comments and post submissions will begin getting upvoted. The more upvotes you get the better your account will look to Reddit and other users. There are even badges you can earn for being a good Reddit user.
4. Share Content By Other Bloggers
Do share content from other bloggers that you think will add to a subreddit or thread. This is a great way to get upvotes and it just feels good knowing you are supporting a fellow blogger and sending some traffic their way.
