Stay at Home Mom “Returns” to Work
First, I have to stop writing 2014. It’s a new year, the holidays are over, and I am officially freed up to go “back to work”.
My baby girl is 3 months old now, our 4-year-old is in preschool, and I’m ready to return to work. I want to take some of the weight of financial responsibility off the shoulders of my husband. I want to show my daughters that mommy’s brain is filled with things other than songs from Disney movies.
Except I don’t want to go “back to work” in an office anymore. I want to work from home.
I don’t know how some women juggle working outside the home, even traveling for work, picking up kids, make lunches, doing laundry and still look put together after nights of little-to-no sleep.
That would NOT be me. I know I would be a raving lunatic if I had to race from home to work to kids to home, running all day & up all night.
My goal is to be able to work from home, so I won’t have to sacrifice things that I love about being a stay at home mom:
- Since I won’t be commuting during rush hour, I can still pickup my 4-year-old from preschool myself & take her to the library or the playground or the swimming pool.
- I can still nurse my baby in the privacy of my home & I don’t have to sit in an office to pump.
- I don’t stress about being up nights, often with both kids, because I’m not required to work on someone else’s schedule during the day.
Make Money From Home
Surprisingly there is little free advice for moms on how to work online to make money from home. For the last 2 years I have been researching different ways to make money online & have even managed to make a little money (click here to see my online income for 2014).
My challenge this year is to see if I can really make enough money from home. I’m documenting the process here to share the journey with other moms to show the steps to make money online.
If I start now, in January 2015, will I be able to make a full-time income by the end of the year? If not, how & how much can I actually make? Oh, and I don’t want to have to spend a lot of money either!
I’m hoping through this experience I can help moms learn how to make money from home, if that is something they want to do. Whatever your background, interests or available free-time, the internet is so huge that there is space for everyone.
