My husband is Brazilian & I can assure you – Brazil’s caipirinha is giving the margarita a run for its money!
If you haven’t tried the caipirinha yet, it is DELICIOUS!
Caipirinha Recipe
The caipirinha is the national cocktail in Brazil and is made with cachaça, tons of limes and sugar.
Cachaça is famous in Brazil – it’s a rum-like distillate.
I love making caipirinhas at home when I’m hosting a Brazilian churrasco (Portuguese for barbeque), on a perfect sunny day.
It’s very refreshing and almost resembles a spiked lemonade. Saude!
Ingredients
- 1 lime, quartered
- 4 teaspoon white sugar
- 4 ounces cachaça
- sparking water to top
Directions
In a cocktail shaker, drop in the limes and sugar.
Muddle until all the juice is extracted from the limes and mixed with the sugar.
Add the cachaça and some ice and secure the shaker lid and shake for 30 seconds.
Pour the liquid into 2 ice filled glasses and top with a quick pour of sparkling water.
